Omide Deinali

Omide is running as a county council candidate for Elvet & Gilesgate to help tackle some of the biggest issues impacting the City of Durham and to ensure that the voices of our communities are heard and represented at the highest level.  

As a highly experienced parish councillor in East Durham, a COVID Community Champion and a key voice for fairness and equality in Labour for the North East, Omide knows how to take on the toughest issues in our society. 

  • Putting community first as we recover from COVID-19. As a a volunteer, activist and fundraiser who has raised money to support his local community during the course of the pandemic, Omide has seen first hand how communities can come togther to tackle even the toughest issues facing us. As a COVID Community Champion, and, with your support, a County Councillor for Elvet & Gilesgate, he will be ensuring that communities across the county get the support they need to recover and rebuild.
  • Creating a fairer society and improving the quality of life for everyone in County Durham. As the chair of the county wide equalities group Fairness4All and the founder of the Labour North BAME Forum, Omide has been a core voice in the pursuit of a fairer and more equal society for all.
  • Passionate about the environment and ensuring that as we recover and rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic, and look towards the challenges of the future, we place carbon neutral, sustainable and greener initiatives at the heart of everything we do. For example more environmentally friendly public transport to connect our communities, with electric buses and more charging points for electric vehicles.
